Challenge

NWG’s Carbon 5-Point Plan sets a clear, ambitious path toward net zero. But the challenge now lies in translating that strategy into action - everywhere, every day, and by everyone.

 

This sprint will focus on the cultural and communication side of carbon: How might we create a compelling communications and engagement framework that empowers NWG staff, partners, and stakeholders to understand and implement the ambitions of the Carbon 5-Point Plan?

 

We’ll explore how to make the strategy real, relatable, and actionable - so carbon awareness becomes embedded in everything we do.

What will we do?

Through collaborative, creative design sessions, we’ll co-create a bold yet practical communications and engagement framework for NWG’s carbon journey. Together, we will:

  • Identify key moments and roles where carbon decisions are made (and missed)
  • Craft messages and narratives that connect the 5-Point Plan to everyday tasks
  • Explore formats, tools, and campaigns to spark and sustain engagement
  • Define behaviours, rituals, and recognition that build carbon-smart habits
  • Design a culture blueprint that turns technical ambition into people-powered action
How we will do it?

Participants will take part in:

  • Carbon journey mapping - where and how people influence emissions
  • Message testing and storytelling labs - to make carbon relatable across roles
  • Co-design of engagement tools - toolkits, nudges, prompts, visual assets, and leadership messaging
  • Behavioural insight sessions - to identify drivers and blockers of cultural change
  • Visioning and roadmap planning - for sustained rollout through to AMP8 and beyond
Target Outcomes

By the end of the sprint, we aim to deliver:

  • A clear, co-created communications and engagement framework aligned with the Carbon 5-Point Plan
  • A suite of tested messages, visuals, and ideas for toolkits or campaigns
  • Defined pathways to build carbon literacy and action at every level
  • Recommendations for integrating carbon into existing systems (induction, comms, ops, leadership)
  • A practical, people-first roadmap to embed low-carbon culture across NWG and its partners
