How do we banish damp and mould from the homes of Social Housing Tenants?

This sprint is taking place at Newcastle Racecourse 11 - 13 July

All Social Housing tenants deserve to live in a warm and safe home free from damp and mould.

Damp and mould is recognised as a significant health hazard and high profile cases such as the tragic case of Awaab Ishak highlight the need for changes in how the issue is addressed. Physical manifestations of damp and mould are relatively straightforward to deal with, however there is recognition that many of our tenants face significant challenges that can make this more difficult to address.

As examples, challenges around cost of living mean that the cost of heating the home is prohibitive, lack of space means that drying clothes inside the home becomes a necessity. Bringing expertise together from inside and outside of our sector for our sprint, we would like to explore how we might support tenants more effectively, to look at how thinking differently could uncover new ways of working in areas such as technology, education and engagement to help us banish damp and mould from our tenants homes forever.
