How might we transform everyday household cleaning tasks such as laundry and dishwashing, to become even more effective (time, effort, results) yet consuming significantly less water and less energy - enabling customers to save money and planet at the same time?

This sprint is taking place at Newcastle Racecourse 11 - 13 July

For decades we have relied on hot water to achieve household cleaning tasks, such as washing clothes and dishes, contributing significantly to household energy and water use, and their associated carbon footprint.

Imagine a world in which we can deliver the same or better performance using a fraction of the energy and water. Resource, emission and household energy bill savings potentials are massive.

But this is huge challenge and will require a step-change in products that are more efficacious in unheated water, reduction in need for rinsing and likely new products that can be used as an alternative/complement to washing, as well as a need to change consumer habits to embrace the emerging approaches.

All ideas on how best to solve this collaboratively are welcome and ideas could include, but are not limited to, any of better products, changes to machine design, systems approaches, water reuse, use of sensors and devices- given the magnitude of the challenge a full systems approach will need to be considered.

Join us, as we take a ‘Clean Sheet’ approach to household tasks.
